The new year is here, and digital marketing is more advanced and innovative than ever before, businesses have to keep up.
It is very likely that the strategies you used last year won’t be effective in 2019.

But the good news is – I have been following the new digital marketing trends and strategies, to predict what trends you need to watch out for 2019.
So here are the seven digital marketing trends you and your business need to pay close attention to this year.

1. Full Stack Marketing

The first thing you need to know is digital marketing is moving to a full stack marketing approach. A few years back, you just used to rely on one channel such as Facebook or Google Ads.

But that’s changed now.

Those tactics won’t work as well as they used to. Marketing has moved to full marketing approach which now you’ve to use all channels including:

  • Growth Hacking
  • Google Ads/Pay Per Click
  • SEO
  • Content Marketing
  • Social Media
  • Banner Ads
The more channels you use, the better off you’re going to be successful. If you don’t use all of them, you just won’t do well in 2019.

2. Voice Search

Most of you won’t like this, but the search is moving to voice search. By 2020 Comscore estimates that half the searches on Google will be through voice search. Right now, two out of every five adults are using voice search.

So, if you want your business to do well, you need to be leveraging voice search.

But how does one go about this?

First, make sure your site is HTTPS because most of the sites throughout the top are HTTPS these days. Second, your site needs to load fast. If it doesn’t load fast, you’re not going to do well with voice search.

And last, when people are typing in questions, they’re typically typing in longer-term phrases so your questions, your answers more so to these questions need to be short and to the point.

If your answers are a paragraph long, you’re not going to do well compared to if your answer was one sentence long.

3. Conversion Optimization

Advertising is getting more and more expensive over time. And that’s not going to change. The only way you’re going to be able to compete and stay ahead is through conversion optimization.

The more you optimize your landing page for conversions, the better off you’re going to be. Make sure you’re using marketing tools which allow you to do A/B test, so you can squeeze more conversions from the traffic you’re getting.

If you don’t do this, as years go on, you’re going to get ground out by the competitors because they’re going to spend more money than you and they’re going to crush you. So, focus on conversion optimization even though most people don’t like talking about it in marketing.

4. Marketing Funnels

Marketing funnels are going to be more popular than ever in 2019. Before, people used to just optimize their campaigns for a keyword with purchase intent, and people would convert right then or they wouldn’t. In 2019, it would be getting more complex. You need to have a full track of your marketing funnel such as where people are entering, dropping off, and converting and know how to improve it.

Whether you have a physical product, digital product, or you’re doing lead generation, you need to track everything from a visitor all the way to a conversion, that’s revenue for them to keep buying, the lifetime value of a customer and that’s why funnels are important.

5. Content Marketing

Content Marketing just won’t work as well as it used to. Think about it. Anytime you do a search, most of the articles that are at the top are content marketing.

Blogging is so popular and played out that everyone is regurgitating the same information repeatedly. Unless you’re creating amazing new information that people haven’t heard before, you’re not going to do well.

Content marketing won’t work as easy to get links or shares unless you’re creating amazing content that people haven’t seen before.

6. Video Content

Video is clearly taking over the content marketing. It is more engaging, personal and search-friendly. According to Cisco, 82% of internet traffic will be through video by 2021. Even some experts predict it can happen next year. Whether you use Facebook, Instagram, YouTube or LinkedIn, the video can do wonders for your business. So, you definitely need to leverage video in 2019.

7. Podcasting

Podcasting is taking over. Do you know that 45% of people who listen to podcasts have a household income of above $75,000? That’s a lot of money.

It means that if people are listening to your podcast, they’re going to be better buyers than most marketing channels out there.

You need to create a podcast. Everyone is using their phones these days. Everyone is driving to work. Podcasting is making it easy for people to listen to your content on the go, on their mobile devices.

In short, 2019 will be all about full stack marketing, automation, voice search and video content, so to stay ahead of your competitors this year, you’ll need to get better at these trends and start applying them you haven’t.
